ABOUT US
HOW WE BEGAN
DAN AND MATT
Our venture commenced as a defiance against the lax professional and reporting standards prevalent in the material handling sector. Our objective was unequivocal: to establish a superior standard and serve as proficient consultants, adept at resolving our clients' challenges.
The expertise of our two founders stems from extensive backgrounds in industry and related fields.
Dan brings a wealth of experience, having served in the Australian Navy as a marine technician. He holds qualifications as a mechanical fitter, advanced rigger, onshore and offshore crane operator as well as registered WorkSafe trainer/assessor with hands-on involvement in various settings including mine sites, construction sites, upstream and downstream oil and gas assets, and an array of Maritime industry shipping and construction vessels. His repertoire includes working on offshore pedestal cranes, overhead cranes, and material handling cranes. Prior to co-founding Safe Lifting Australia, Dan served as a General Manager, where he trained personnel in crane operations and inspections.
Similarly, Matt boasts a rich history of service as a crane technician, coupled with qualifications as a rigger, mechanical fitter and electrician. He has worked extensively on overhead cranes, gantry cranes, GTU's and underground cranes on both oil and gas sites and mining sites in QLD, WA, NSW and SA. Before his involvement in co-founding Safe Lifting Australia, Matt played a pivotal role on the Australian Standards Committee as a consultant for AS Crane Standard 1418. He also managed the lifting and crane servicing at BHP Olympic Dam, managing over 200 assets and later held the position of National Crane Manager, leading a team of over 30 service and lifting personnel servicing sites all over Australia.
